You deserve to know exactly what happens next.

Choosing home care for a parent is a real decision. We make the process clear and unhurried, from your first call through the first day of care.

If you're researching care for a parent, spouse, or family member, this page is for you.

Most of the families who call Zion Care are loving adult children, daughters and sons living nearby or across the country who want to ensure their parents receive the extra support they need when it exceeds what the family can provide alone. Others are spouses, siblings, or the individuals themselves, thoughtfully planning ahead for the future.

Wherever you're starting from, we've talked with someone in your situation before. We know the questions you have, about cost, about how caregivers are chosen, about what happens if something goes wrong, and we'll answer them here.

From your first call to the first shift.

Four steps. No pressure. Every step is yours to control.

You call us, or we call you back.

Call us at (207) 370-5217 or submit a note through our secure contact form. We respond within a few hours.

Your first conversation is just that: a conversation. There is no assessment form and no obligation. Simply share what's happening with your loved one, and we'll listen carefully while answering every question with honesty and clarity.

If Zion Care isn't the right fit, we'll tell you directly and gladly refer you to another trusted provider who may better meet your needs.

A free in-home assessment.

We'll schedule a complimentary in-home visit at a time that works best for your family. A member of our team will come to the home, meet the person you care for, and take time to truly understand their daily life, their routines, the more challenging moments, their personal preferences, and what matters most to them.

The visit typically lasts 60–90 minutes, and family members are always welcome to join.

A care plan written with you.

Following the in-home visit, we develop a fully personalized care plan based on what we've learned about your loved one's routines, preferences, and needs. You'll receive the draft to review in detail, and we'll walk through every part together, making any adjustments until it feels exactly right for your family. Nothing begins until you are completely comfortable and confident that the plan truly reflects your needs.

We also arrange a personal introduction to the caregiver we've carefully matched with your family before their first shift. You'll have the opportunity to meet them ahead of time, so you know exactly who is coming through your door.

First shift, and ongoing from there.

Your caregiver arrives on time and fully prepared for every visit. After the first few shifts, we proactively check in with your family to ensure everything is going smoothly and meeting your expectations. If any adjustments are needed, we make them promptly.

At Zion Care, you'll always have a dedicated, direct point of contact: a real person who knows your family and can respond quickly to your needs. You'll never be routed to a call center or answering service.

What families usually ask us.

We match every caregiver based on personality, skills, schedule, and the unique details your family shares with us. If your loved one speaks French, we find a caregiver who does too. If they prefer a calm, quiet presence rather than a more talkative one, we take that into account. We also carefully consider experience level, complex care situations are paired with caregivers who have the right background and expertise to handle them with confidence.

Life changes, we understand that completely. We ask for reasonable notice whenever possible, but we never penalize families for sudden medical appointments or unexpected hospital visits. We'll work with you to find the best solution, and we clearly explain our scheduling policy before any services begin.

We maintain reliable backup coverage at all times. If your regular caregiver is ever unable to make a shift, we contact you promptly and arrange for a qualified replacement who is already familiar with your family's care plan. You can rest assured that your loved one will never be left without coverage.

All caregivers are Zion Care's Employees.

We maintain comprehensive insurance coverage to protect the families we serve and the caregivers who support them.
